What We Have Done So Far in the Past 5 Years?

Through your generous donations, The Akula Foundation for almost a quarter of a century has provided a wide variety of programs. The following information will give you a brief history and an overview of our commitment to providing services to New Orleans, the Northshore, Baton Rouge, the Gulf Coast and other areas. For further information please see our website at www. Akulafoundation.com

Organized in 1994 as non-profit 501-(c) 3 organization by Dr. Shiva Akula, it was originally dedicated to providing indigent hospice care to the community. Support was later expanded to include Camp Swan, a bereavement camp for children ages 7 to 12. Following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2006, the Grief Resource Center was established to provide what over the past 10 years have become independent outpatient programs on reminiscence groups in nursing homes, community grief groups, illness care, educational workshops and community outreach. The following is a brief review of all of the activities of the Akula Foundation in the past 5 years and the estimated cost of the services we have provided to the community.
